Dr. Xiaojian Yao, PhD and MD, Professor, is the director of the Laboratory of Molecular Human Retrovirology, in the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He obtained his M.D., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees respectively at Suzhou Medical University, the National Institute for the Control of Pharma & Biol. products in China, and the University of Montreal. Dr. Yao’s research projects have been in the fundamental research to explore HIV and host protein interactions and their functional roles during HIV-1 replication, and the development of new approaches against HIV-1. In recent years, his lab has also focused on developing multivalent vaccines against high-risk viral pathogens, including HIV-1, SARS-CoV-2 and influenza A viruses.

Seth Lederman is a physician, scientist, and the founder of Tonix. Prior to becoming a biopharma entrepreneur, Dr. Lederman served as an Associate Professor at Columbia University for two decades and directed basic science research in molecular immunology, infectious diseases and the development of therapeutics for autoimmune diseases. His fundamental work on the CD40-Ligand has led to the development of therapeutic candidates for autoimmune diseases and organ transplant rejection in collaboration with Biogen and UCB. Dr. Lederman earned his MD from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and an AB from Princeton in Chemistry cum laude.
